LIC turns 60, goes hi-tech
The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) completed 60 years of its service to the nation on Thursday. Zonal manager (East) Vipin Anand said LIC was a pioneer in using information technology for enhancing the quality of service to its customers. "One can access different information-based services of the company from his home. Our SMS-based helpline, online payment of premiums through wallets and SMS alert on transaction are beneficial for the customers," he added. He further said LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation was established in 2006 as part of the company's corporate social responsibility. It works primarily in the field of health and education and has built rooms and libraries for schools. Regional manager Anoop Kumar said LIC won 32 awards this year, notable among which are the Golden Peacock awards for corporate governance and training. "We cater to the needs of the business class and keep in mind the demands of the economically weaker sections of the society," he added
